A New Wind
What do you think the message was that Stanley Culp was conveying to Charlie Pope?
I think, that reading the conversation between Charlie and Mr. Culp, it seemed like he was trying to tell Charlie to calm himself down. Charlie was all mad at Mr. Culp being there and had told him that the Chief was coming back soon, and all he said were things like "Oh, I don't think the chief'll mind too much." (Page 163!)
I think he was trying to tell him that Charlie better step down and let him take charge, or else something BIG is gonna happen... I also agree that maybe Mr. Culp wants to be in the big-league in the rum-running business...
I think that Stanley wants to be in charge or be a big shot in the rum-running business, and Charlie doesnt want him to.

ReplyDeleteI think that Mr. Culp was only trying to tell Charlie that he wasn't doing any harm but i guess Charlie thought he was.
